Sunday's scientific and performance advisory board spans circadian neuroscience and human performance.
Will Ahmed
Founder, WHOOP
Will founded WHOOP, the performance wearable used by elite athletes, teams, and organisations worldwide to measure strain, recovery, and sleep. His experience turning physiological data into everyday coaching helps ensure Sunday supports real-world performance, recovery, and wellbeing.
Professor Russell Foster, University of Oxford
Circadian Neuroscientist
Russell is a leading circadian neuroscientist and sleep researcher. His work on how specialised light-sensing cells in the eye set the body clock underpins modern understanding of how light affects sleep, mood, and long-term health, and informs how we engineer Sunday's daylight.

Some notes on @thesundaylight, a sort of… artificial skylight?
It feels good to spend the day in daylight. But that doesn't happen when I'm working inside. Especially in the winter. So, for years, I've used super-bright LEDs while I work. They quite noticeably improve my energy…

status update: the Sunday Light is indeed the closest thing to sunlight you can buy.
10/10, no regrets. absolutely bonkers. for reference, this is my actual light at 80% brightness in a room with almost zero outside light.
Many people think sleep is all about how long you spend in bed, but quality is just as important.
Your brain runs on an internal 24-hour clock called your circadian rhythm.
This system helps regulate when you feel alert, when you feel sleepy, when your body releases hormones like cortisol and melatonin, your body temperature, metabolism and even processes involved in memory, learning and brain repair.
One of the strongest signals that keeps this clock running on time is light.
Bright light in the morning tells your brain it’s time to be awake, helping suppress melatonin and reinforcing a healthy sleep-wake cycle.
As daylight fades in the evening, melatonin naturally begins to rise, preparing your brain and body for sleep.
So I feel incredible grateful to have been gifted the @sunday.light which mimics natural daylight throughout the day and adjusts its intensity into the evening.
These are some of the things i do to maintain both my sleep quality and long-term brain health:
- I aim for at least 8 hours of sleep every night.
- I go to bed and wake up at roughly the same time each day (within about an hour).
- I keep my bedroom cool, dark and quiet.
💤 If you can’t control your environment, an eye mask and ear plugs can make a huge difference.
- I use bright light first thing in the morning to support my circadian rhythm.
- I sleep with natural, breathable materials like silk pillowcases, a silk eye mask and a silk duvet. in winter, i also use a weighted blanket.
Sleep is when your brain consolidates memories, clears metabolic waste, strengthens neural connections and prepares itself for the day ahead. Which is why looking after your sleep is one of the most powerful things you can do for your brain.

i love how the @sesame sf office is always evolving between new art and art installations to new tech like this 34,500 lumen liquid cooled @thesundaylight thanks to @brendaniribe being on the lookout
The Sunday light is extraordinary. We change the light according to our mood; and our mood changes with the light. Way cool thing to get done!

Nat Martin is the kind of builder I admire—his product feels like art, but it's also incredibly functional. In many ways, it reflects how I think about our work at Notion.
He's a Notion customer! And as of this weekend, I became his customer :)
I was incredibly impressed by the Sunday Light. It produces a level and quality of light that approximates sunlight, yet its design allows prolonged use that is both comfortable and convenient.
Critically, you do not have to sit next to the device to get the levels of light that will deliver physiological benefits.

When Hammett turned it off, I laughed at the wintery greyness that replaced it. When he turned it back on, I appreciated it even more.

For SAD sufferers and those who hate the long winter evenings, half an hour beneath the Sunday should help banish the blues.
It is a gloomy Oxford winter but under our Sunday Light, it is astonishingly bright and cheery! This terrific piece of engineering solves an important problem - robustly and elegantly.

I can't believe the difference the light has made. It's like a beam of sunshine above our kitchen table. Every morning, I notice the immediate effect it has on me and my family's mood.

This chandelier for circadian rhythms casts 10,000 lux at eye level, equivalent to ambient daylight, and outstripping the measly 500 lux found in most well-lit offices.

The science is clear that we need more light. The current options don't deliver. Sunday Light does.

The Sunday Light by Sunday Lighting in situ... at Otras Formas.
Dimmable LED light fixture in stainless steel and acrylic with titanium nano-particles
The Sunday Light's large reflective panel scatters light the same way that the atmosphere does. When the light is on, the light source mimics the sun, reflected as a bright white spot, and the surface of the panel glows with a luminous, sky blue light.
At the heart of the luminaire is an LED that produces over 34,000 lumens, cooled by water flowing throughout the structure.
At its brightest the Sunday Light creates the effect of standing under a clear blue sky on a sunny day. However deep dimming means that Sunday isn't just a sunlight machine - it can be as soft and soothing in the evening as it is powerful in the daytime, featuring a color changing light output, from bright daylight (6000 K, CRI 97+) to a warm evening light (2650 K), enabling perfect synchronicity with the sun.

Wow wow wow. It's so perfect. I'm just sat here admiring. It's just sublime. Cheering me up on a dreary day. It's totally energizing.
"Sunday combines clever engineering with beautiful light in a rather beguiling way."
